Research has been conducted to investigate the different motives, game design elements and features that en-hance the gaming experience. However, there is a gap in understanding how per-suasive features in video games have an impact on individuals, resulting in be-havioral changes. An understanding of the role each feature plays in a video game is crucial for the successful creation and design of a video game aimed to “per-suade” players to change their behavior. This paper presents a systematic review that covers 30 publications and is aimed at investigating the persuasive features in video games and further providing a classification of those features. The results of the study provide a guide to the main theories on behavior change and a clas-sification of the identified persuasive features. Additionally, this study provides a reference for video game designers and developers to utilize when undertaking persuasive projects.
